RAGING SUN, RAGING SKY is a mythical gay romance depicting love as an
ancestral epic, an archetypical ordeal where loss and death are but inevitable stages along the bittersweet odyssee to attaining absolute bliss. It is the story of two men, Kieri and Ryo, whose love transcends time and space. They love in the present continuous of an eternity dictated by the very essence of their raison d'ętre. But into their mutual devotion enters Tari, a lonely lover that comes between them, sending Kieri on a mystic journey where he encounters defeat, sacrifice, fusion, and resurrection. The film is a reflection on living through the act of loving.
Julián Hernández's second feature film, El cielo Dividido (Broken Sky), screened at the Berlinale, in 2006. His first feature film with the longest title ever, MIL NUBES DE PAZ CERCAN ELCIELO, AMOR, JAMÁS ACABARÁS DE SER AMOR, won the TEDDY AWARD at the 53rd Berlinale. Hernández continues to expand the language of narrative cinema with his visually stunning, contemplative, and very personal films.
