Joey Arias hat die Performancekunst der Drag- Queens geadelt. Arias ist ein Markenzeichen und steht für die Verbindung von Avantgarde und Popmusik und die Wiederauferstehung der göttlichen Stimme von Billie Holiday. Joey war Andy Warhols Muse, stand mit Klaus Nomi, David Bowie und Iggy Pop auf der Bühne. Als »Mistress of Seduction« hatte er sich innerhalb kurzer Zeit in Las Vegas einen Namen gemacht. ARIAS WITH A TWIST – seine zusammen mit dem Puppenspieler Basil Twist choreografierte Show – steht im Mittelpunkt dieses Films. Joey Arias ennobled the performance art of being a drag queen. Arias is a personage who stood for the connection between the avant-garde and pop music as well as the revival of Billie Holiday’s divine voice. Joey was Andy Warhol’s muse. Klaus Nomi, David Bowie and Iggy Pop performed with Arias, who made a name for himself in Las Vegas as the »Mistress of Seduction«. »Arias with a Twist«, his show with puppeteer Basil Twist, is the focus of this film.
