Sara und Shulamit wachsen in chassidischen Familien während der »sittsamen Revolution« des vergangenen Jahrzehnts auf. Die Revolution hat den Frauen und Töchtern der ultraorthodoxen Juden viele neue Verbote gebracht, die ihre Bewegungsund Redefreiheit in hohem Maße eingrenzen. Beide Protagonistinnen haben jede für sich entschieden auszusteigen. BLACK BUS erzählt von ihrem mutigen Versuch, die Gesellschaft, aus der sie geflohen sind, zu dokumentieren. Sara schreibt einen Satire- Blog über das trostlose Leben der Charedi-Frauen. Shulamit hält als Fotografin u.a. ihre Erlebnisse in den Bussen der Ultraorthodoxen fest, in denen Frauen hinten sitzen müssen. Beide Frauen agieren auf eigene Faust und entlarven die Gewaltsamkeit der Charedi-Fanatiker im Namen der Sittsamkeit, auch um den Preis harter Bestrafungen. Regisseurin Anat Yuta Zuria ist unabhängige Dokumentarfilmerin und politische Aktivistin. Mit BLACK BUS gewann sie den Dokumentarfilmpreis des INTERNATIONALEN FILMFESTIVALS HAIFA 2009.Sara and Shlomit grow up in Hasidic Jewish families during the »modesty revolution« of the last decade. The revolution limited the freedoms of speech and movement of the wives and daughters of ultraorthodox Jews. The two protagonists each decided separately to get out. BLACK BUS tells the story of their courageous attempt to document the society from which they have flown. Sara writes a witty blog about the bleak lives of Hasidic women. Shlomit is a photographer who, among other things, documents experiences on the ultra-orthodox busses, where women are required to sit at the back. Both women act entirely alone and they expose the violence of Haredi fanatics acting in the name of modesty, and are severely punished for doing so. Director Anat Yuta Zuria is an independent filmmaker and political activist. With BLACK BUS, she won the HAIFA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2009 Documentary Film Award.
