Zum Glück Gibt´s Kein Patent

Norma DIN (Hella von Sinnen) arbeitet im Patentamt. Ihr Leben wird von der täglichen Arbeit im Amt beherrscht und von der abstrakten und kontextlosen Art und Weise, in der sich die Erfindungen selbst präsentieren. Zwei Neuzugänge haben einen persönlichen Bezug zu Norma DIN: Sie soll eine Spieluhr mit einem lebenden Püppchen patentieren und einen »Robot«, der Beamte wie sie eines Tages ersetzen soll. Zum Glück hält die Bürokratie Bestimmungen bereit, nach denen Norma DIN die beiden Erfindungen als nicht patentfähig einstufen kann. In diesem Experimentalfi lm zum Thema »Selbstentfremdung durch Arbeit« spielt Monika Funke-Stern bereits 1984 mit den unterschiedlichsten Videoeffekten der Virtualität und Vervielfältigung. Der Film lief 1985 im WETTBEWERB der BERLINALE.

Norma DIn (hella von Sinnen) works in the Patent office. her life is dominated by the daily toil at her post and the abstract presentation of inventions that she must read without context. norma DIn is personally affected by two new patents. She has the job of patenting a music box with a living puppet and a »robot« that will one day replace patent officers like her. Luckily the bureaucratic regulations allow norma DIn to declare both inventions nonpatentable. As early as 1984, Monika Funke-Stern plays with a variety of video effects to create virtual reality and reproduction in this experimental film that thematizes »Self-alienation through work«. the film was shown in the coMPetItIon category of the 1985 BerLInALe.
