BREAKFAST ON PLUTO (Film Still)

Brothers Of The Head
Twin brothers Barry and Tom Howe live in the country – but their dream is to live the fast-and-loose lives of rock stars. Sooner than they ever dared hope, their dream comes true. Before long, they are much more than just a insider‘s tip for those in the know; in fact, they are soon regarded as the next big thing. Petulant managers, wily concert organisers, vitriolic journalists, groupies, sex, drugs and alcoholic excesses...

BUBOT NIYAR (Film Still)

Capote
November 1959. As a result of the success of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” Truman Capote is now a celebrated writer and – thanks to his ability to spin a good yarn – also a much sought-after party guest among New York’s intellectual circles. One day while reading the “New York Times”, he comes across a report of a brutal criminal case involving the slaughter – in cold blood – of a family of four in Holcomb, Kansas. Try as he might, Capote can’t seem to get the report out of his mind...

CONTAINER
“A woman in a man’s body. A man in a woman’s body. Jesus in Mary’s stomach. The water breaks. It floods into me. I can’t close the lid. My heart is full.” So runs Lukas Moodysson’s description of his film that features a female voice - the soft-spoken Suada. This film is about Brad Pitt and Paris Hilton, David Beckham and Saddam Hussein; it also about sex and the war in Iraq, about homosexuality and homophobia...

BREAKFAST ON PLUTO
This film marks Neil Jordan’s second screen adaptation, after “The Butcher Boy”, of a novel by Patrick McCabe. In his book, the Irish writer describes a series of hilarious and drastic episodes in the (fictional) life of a young Irish transvestite named Patrick “Kitten” Braden, who gains something of a reputation working the streets around Piccadilly Circus in London in the 1970s. Patrick is born in 1958, in Tyreelin, close to the border with Northern Ireland. At first glance, all is as it should be in this dreamily picturesque little place...

BROTHERS OF THE HEAD (Film Still)

Bubot Niyar

When the second Intifada began, Israel closed its borders to workers from Palestinian territories who, during the previous years had taken on all the worst-paid jobs in the land. Just as in many industrialised countries, in Israel tasks such as housework or caring for the elderly are often delegated to foreign workers. Israel’s policy left a big hole in the job market, and so...

COMBAT
COMBAT is the third and last part of the filmed diary started by Patrick Carpentier in 2003 and entitled The irregularity of the tearing. Two young men fi ght with each other. They hit each other very hard. But their fi ghting remains an act of love. There is no prize. There is no winner. There is no pride. A voice-over narrator tells a strange story in which he rediscovers the extent of his desire. Questions arise: does one infl ict pain on the other or on oneself? ...

EL CIELO DIVIDIDO
Gerardo and Jonas found love because they sought each other out. Theirs is an intense, passionate love. And then, one night at a disco, Bruno intervenes. A man of uncertain age, Bruno appears to be magnetically drawn towards this charismatic couple. Jonas has an affair with him, but lacks the verve or the brazenness to take off with him. No sooner does Bruno appear than he disappears again. From this moment onwards, Gerardo sees Jonas as a harbinger of unavoidable death...
