In POSTCARD TO DADDY dokumentiert Michael Stock seinen Versuch der Bewältigung des jahrelangen sexuellen Missbrauchs in der Kindheit durch den eigenen Vater. Ohne den »Täter« zu stigmatisieren, schildern der Autor wie auch seine Familie und Freunde die Umstände und Konsequenzen des selbst erlebten aber auch gesellschaftspolitisch sensiblen Familiendramas aus ihrer jeweiligen subjektiven Perspektive. Dabei ist der Film aber nicht von Wut und Hass geprägt, sondern von Offenheit, Hoffnung und Liebe zum Leben. Michael Stock will nicht anklagen, sondern verstehen. Mit der Videobotschaft – der »Postkarte an Daddy« – stattet er seinem Vater am Ende des Films einen Besuch in der alten Heimat ab und konfrontiert ihn mit Details aus der gemeinsamen Vergangenheit, um endlich auch seinen eigenen Frieden finden zu können. Michael Stock lebt als Schauspieler und Regisseur (FUCKING DIFFERENT!, HÖLLELAND) in Berlin.In POSTCARD TO DADDY, Michael Stock documents his process of coping with childhood sexual abuse that went on for years, perpetrated by his own father. Without stigmatizing the »perpetrator«, the author shows the circumstances and consequences that his family and friends experienced from their perspectives as well as the whole sensitive sociopolitical family drama. Thus the film is not driven by anger and hate, rather by openness, hope and love for life. Michael Stock doesn’t want to accuse, rather he wants to understand. With this video message – the »Postcard to Daddy« – in his hand, he visits his father to confront him with their common past and to finally find peace.
