Sun, Feb 14Fritz Bauer-Tod auf Raten (Death By Instalments)(See also: TEDDY TODAY Feb. 14, 2010)Als hessischer Generalstaatsanwalt (1956-1968) war Fritz Bauer der maßgebliche Initiator der Frankfurter Auschwitz-Prozesse und hat wie kein anderer deutscher Jurist die Aufhellung der Staatsverbrechen des »Dritten Reichs« in Gang gesetzt. In aufsehenerregenden Musterprozessen stritt er zudem für eine Humanisierung der Strafjustiz. Im restaurativen Klima der Adenauer-Ära wurde er damit zur Zielscheibe der nicht nur rechten und rechtsradikalen Kritik. Am 30. Juni 1968 wurde Bauer tot in seiner Frankfurter Wohnung aufgefunden. Die näheren Umstände seines Todes geben bis heute Rätsel auf. Der Dokumentarfilm von Ilona Ziok (u.a. Regisseurin von THE SOUND OF SILENCE und Produzentin von NOMI SONG) ist ein Psychogramm, eine kriminalistische Ermittlung und eine deutsche Geschichte ganz nah am Abgrund. In sensational proceedings, he fought to humanize criminal justice. The restorative atmosphere of the Adenauer Era exposed him as an enemy of the right and the target of the extreme right. On June 30th, 1968, Bauer was found dead in his apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery to this day.
