Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Städten, wo die Reichen die höher gelegenen Plätze besiedeln, wohnen die Reichen in La Paz unten, im so genannten Süd- Bezirk. Ohne große Zwischenfälle vergehen die Tage in einem der stattlichen Häuser, das von einem schönen Garten umgeben ist. Es ist da so angenehm wie in einer bunten Seifenblase. Im Haus wohnen zwei verschiedene Parteien: Die Mutter Carola mit ihren drei Kindern Patricio, Bernarda und Andrés und die anderen, die Aymara-Einheimischen, Wilson and Marcelina. Das Drama rollt langsam heran, bis verschiedene Kräfte, nicht nur innerhalb des Hauses, auch draußen vor der Tür, die Seifenblase zum Platzen bringen. Der Film erzählt die Geschichte einer Familie aus der Oberschicht zu einer Zeit, als sich im ganzen Land soziale Veränderungen vollziehen.In La Paz – as opposed to many other cities where the rich live in the hills, the rich live below, which happens to be the Southern District. Life goes on without major mishaps in a large house surrounded by a beautiful garden. It is a wonderful world, a great bubble of comfort, where several different personal spheres (realities) coexist: the mother, Carola, along with her three children, Patricio, Bernarda and Andrés and the other indigenous Aymara inhabitants of the house, Wilson and Marcelina. The drama surfaces slowly, until certain forces, both internal and external, make the bubble burst. The film tells the story of the final days of an upperclass family, at a time when the country is undergoing a number of social changes.
